In order to contribute to national economic growth and train professional workers in global logistics, Ching-Yun University has set up the Logistic Management Research Center in the Department of Marketing and Distribution Management. The physical hardware infrastructure of this center combines related knowledge of Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering, as well as Vehicle Machines, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). The center also combines related knowledge of the departments of Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Financial Management, Information Management, Applied Foreign Languages, and International Trade. The center is able to manage and plan related software for the center, such as that related to money flow, commercial flow, logistic flow, and information flow. We wish to use this research center as a startup in order to realize the three main goals of teaching and research, industrial and academic cooperation, and on-job training and teaching.
The center possesses a Wireless Communication System (WCS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information System (GIS), and Vehicle Management System (VMS). The WCS provides the communication transfer channel for the management center and vehicles. The GPS is able to track down the correct vehicle’s position. The GTS is able to retrieve data from the database and then to display the vehicle’s position on the digital map. Finally, the VMS is an advanced vehicle operation management system.
