Introduction The Yun-Shu Library was remodeled from
the old administration building of the University. Before being
remodeled, the library, which only occupied the 4th floor of
the building, had served the Chien Hsin Junior College of Technology—the
predecessor of the University, for thirteen years. Ms. Tang,
Xiu Chun held the position as the first director of the Library
during 1989-2000. Dr. Lee, Zheng-Guo took over the administration
as the second director in 2000, when the entire building became
a library. A further remodeling of the Library, which was carried
out during the summer of 2002, features a modern interior design
and state-of-the-art facilities, providing a more comfortable
and high-tech environment for the University faculty and students.
Currently, the Library holds some 330,000 catalogued items,
including books, periodicals, and non-book materials. In addition
to regular library instruction, circulation, course reserve,
reference, and information services, the library also electronically
links campus users to a wide array of databases, electronic
journals, and selected web reference resources.
Organization The organization of the Library, which is functionally divided into two sections: Section of Acquisitions and Cataloging and Section of Information Service, is under the supervision of the Library director. A Faculty Library Committee composed of faculty representives from all departments of the University, is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the Library's collection development policy. Shown below is the organizational chart of the library.
